Process Flow

Set-up
 
1)
Select program / product name.
Use touch screen operator interface at front or rear of machine.
Machine will automatically change conveyor width and program and feeder data.
 
2)
Install correct lower press support plate on lift table.
 
3)
Load feeders with correct components onto feeder cart(s).
 
4)
Verify pick-up tools are in the correct tooling bays.
Use set-up guide from touch screen for list of tools and their positions.
Note: Machine will automatically read binary code on each tool to verify tools are loaded correctly.
 
5)
If pallets are used, load PCB into pallet.
 

 
 

Begin Production
 
1)
Head will be holding a height block to check PCB height under a 100lb load.
 
2)
PCB will automatically load from input conveyor when conveyor sends ready to send signal.
 
 
(If applicable: PCB bar code will be read at load sequence)

3)
Lift table will engage bottom side of product.
 
 
(~3.5 sec)
 
4)
Head will press at a programmed position on the PCB to define a zero point for the board under load.

5)
Assume a pick-up tool change is required. The head moves the current tool over its tool holder, lowers it, and disengages.
 
 
(~3.5 sec)
 
6)
The head moves the camera over the next tool to be used.
The camera checks the binary code on the tool to verify it is the correct tool for the component.
 
 
(~3 sec)
 
7)
If correct, the head moves the auto tool changer over the tool, lowers, and picks up the tool.
 
 
(~5 sec)
 
8)
Head moves over the press position on the PCB and inspects component holes in the PCB to insure they mate with the component correctly.

9)
While processing the board inspection, the head moves the look-down camera over the first part to be picked. Camera inspects the part and part position.
 
 
(~5.5 sec)
 
10)
Head moves into position, lowers, picks the part, and raises.
 
 
(~2 sec)
 
11)
Head moves the picked component over the look-up camera to inspect the component pins to verify they will mate with the PCB and verify pins are within true position tolerances.
Position offsets/adjustments are made based on data from inspections.

12)
While processing the pin inspection, head moves the component over the press location.
 
 
(~2 sec)
 
13)
Head lowers component to where the leads are just above the mating holes in PCB, then slows to programmed press speed and mates the component with the PCB. During Press, the machine software monitors the press/distance curve. If programmed press force or distances parameters are violated, the press cycle is stopped to avoid product damage.

14)
Steps (5-13) are repeated until all components have been inserted.
